About Corina

Corina Ignat is an accomplished soprano who has earned acclaim for her captivating performances and exceptional vocal artistry. She completed her musical studies at the prestigious Royal Irish Academy of Music, where she pursued both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees under the guidance of renowned soprano Virginia Kerr.

 

Corina’s burgeoning career has seen her excel in a wide range of operatic roles. She recently showcased her talent as part of the Wexford Festival Opera’s Young Artist Programme, the Wexford Factory, where she delivered standout performances in several productions, singing the roles of Marie in La fille du regiment, Nella in Gianni Schicchi, Dame 3 in L’aube rouge and Stepmother in Alma Deutscher’s Cinderella. Other operatic roles include Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Lyric Opera Productions, Second Apparition in Macbeth with the Grange Festival, Clorinda (cover) in La Cenerentola with Irish National Opera, Arminda in La finta giardiniera with RIAM Opera, Belladonna in The Fairy Queen with RIAM Opera, and the iconic Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute with RIAM Opera.

Her versatility extends to partial roles in celebrated works such as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel with Irish National Opera as part of their Young Artist Showcase, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Tatyana in Eugene Onegin, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, Adina in L’elisir d’amore, and Violetta in La Traviata during RIAM scenes, where she was expertly coached by Brenda Hurley.

 

Corina’s talents have also been featured in the chorus of many esteemed opera companies, including Glyndebourne Festival, Wexford Festival Opera, Irish National Opera, and The Grange Festival.

Her concert repertoire is equally impressive, with highlights including a performance at the Rising Stars Concert at Limerick University Concert Hall, soprano solos in Bach Cantata BWV 191 and Walton’s Missa Brevis at the National Concert Hall Dublin with the Goethe Institute Choir, a recital at the Italian Institute of Culture Dublin, and a Summer Recital in Belfast.

Corina has had the privilege of honing her craft through masterclasses with distinguished artists such as Ernesto Palacio, Iain Burnside, Brenda Hurley, Ann Murray, Désirée Rancatore, and Antonino Siragusa.

 

With each role she takes on, Corina continues to captivate audiences with her powerful voice, expressive artistry, and dynamic stage presence. She is committed to her ongoing artistic growth and is dedicated to sharing her passion for opera with audiences around the world. As she looks to the future, Corina is excited to explore new opportunities and challenges that will allow her to further showcase her talents on both national and international stages.

Awards & Recognition

Several prizes and awards include 1st place in the Irene Sandford Competition for singers,  1st place in the Geoghegan Memorial Cup (Feis Ceoil), 3rd prize in the Young Opera Voice Competition, Most promising singer in the Irene Sandford Competition for singers, finalist in the Dramatic Cup (Feis Ceoil), among others.
